From Findagrave page: Captain Jacob H. Arndt, son of Jacob and Sarah (Stewart) Arndt, was born in Greenwich Township, Warren County, New Jersey, January 30, 1833. He married Caroline A. Hagenbuch (b. 1834).
Together, they had five children, including Carrie H. Arndt (b. 11 Jul 1855, d. 23 May 1859), Annie K. Arndt (b. 1 Mar 1857, d. 1 Dec 1858), Katharine E. Arndt (b. 22 Jan 1859, m. Charles F. Graff), Edward Bird Arndt (b. 3 Jan. 1861, m. first Catharine Shouse and second Loretta M. McGuire) and Frederick Arndt (b. 7 Oct. 1862, d. 2 Mar 1865).
Jacob Arndt enlisted on August 28, 1861 in the 67th Regiment, Pennsylvania Volunteers and was commissioned Captain of Company A. During the Civil War, he saw almost three years of strenuous service with his regiment, but finally, seriously wounded, he was sent north and died in Philadelphia on November 8, 1863. He is buried at Easton Cemetery where a monument was erected over his grave.
After the death of her husband, Caroline was a shoe dealer in Easton with her sisters, Mary C. and Annie Hagenbuch. She died in Easton on June 3, 1897 and, together with three children who died in infancy, was buried next to Jacob in Easton Cemetery.
