He attended Oak Grove school and worked at various local farms. Jim was employed at the Danville State Hospital in the dairy barn from 1947 until he retired from his position as a dairy herdsman in 1982.

He was a member of the Danville/Mahoning Lodge 224 F&AM, the Valley Grange No. 1184, the Continental Fire Company, the Washington Fire Company, the East End Fire Company and American Legion Post 40.

Jim and Lois enjoyed camping with their grandchildren and going to auctions until Lois’ health no longer allowed. He was a devoted husband to his wife and cared for her at home for many years prior to her death. He was a very good carpenter and built many pieces of furniture for his family. He loved animals and enjoyed raising domestic rabbits. Jim will always be remembered for his constant smile.
