Obituary: Joyce Mae (Britton) Hagenbuch, 87, of Columbia Avenue, Palmerton, died Tuesday evening, April 9, 2013, in Towamensing Twp., Carbon County. She was the wife of George W. Hagenbuch since June 19, 1948, who served in the US Marine Corps, WWII, Pacific Theatre. Born in Palmerton, she was a daughter of the late Simon and Lucy (Smith) Britton. Joyce was co-owner/operator of the former J&J Dress Shop, Delaware Avenue, Palmerton, for 38 years, retiring in 1996. Later, she worked for the County Junction General Store, Forest Inn, as head flower arranger until this year. Joyce was a 1943 graduate of the Palmerton High School and worked as a Rosie Riveter, during WWII, for the Volte Aircraft Corp, Allentown. Her passion was golf, she was a member of Blue Ridge Country Club, Palmerton, where she was Ladies Champion for three years. She was a member of the Concourse Club, Palmerton and the Carbon County Chamber of Commerce. Survivors: Husband; daughters, Jan wife of Jim Everett with whom she resided, Jill Hagenbuch Turko of Palmerton; grandchildren, Taryn Burke, Tyler Meining, Kylee and Regan Turko; great-grandchildren, Sayler and Reilly Burke. Private Interment.
