He was born Sept. 20, 1946, in Mendota to Kenneth A. and Earleen (Bansau) Davis. He married Patti Sutton on Nov. 30, 1968, in Mendota.
He was a 1964 graduate of Mendota High School and attended Illinois Wesleyan University and Western Illinois University.
He served with the U.S. Army from 1969-1972, including a one-year tour of duty in Vietnam.
He served on Triumph Co-op Board of Directors from 1973-1990 and on the Mendota Community Hospital board of directors from 1984-2002. From 1999-2016 he served as a director of NBE Bancshares Inc., State Bank of Paw Paw, National Bank of Earlville and Pioneer State Bank. In 2007, he was elected as chairman of the board of NBE Bancshares Inc., a position he held until the date of his death.
He was a member of American Legion and Elks Lodge 1212. He was engaged in farming in Ophir Township.
He is survived by his wife, Patti of Mendota; one daughter, Elizabeth Davis of Warrenville; two sons, Matthew Davis of Mendota and Thomas (Kara) Davis of Traverse City, Mich.; three grandchildren; one brother; Rich (Jeanne) Davis of Venice, Fla.; and one sister; Mary Sundberg of Mendota.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
