He was born Oct. 20, 1911, in Freedom Township, the son of Noah C. and Blanche Pool Hackman. He married Ruth Lucile Legner on Aug. 31, 1935, in Geneva, Ill. She died on Aug. 11, 1964. He married Margaret Schrader on May 10, 1978, in Bradenton, Fla. She died on July 26, 1983. He married Willa Mae Joranlien on Dec. 27, 1985, in Bradenton, Fla. She passed away on Feb. 22, 1997.
The service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Musselman-Beck Funeral Home, Lexington, with the Rev. Ray Owens officiating. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Leland Cemetery , Leland, at 1:30 p.m. Friday.
Memorials may be made to the Educational Tape Recording for the Blind Inc. or the First United Methodist Church in Lexington.
Other survivors include a niece, Sandra (Jack) Warner of Salem, S.C., and a nephew, Terry (Brenda) Rickart of Charles City, Iowa, and several cousins.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Joan Lucile, who died in infancy, one brother and one sister.
Frank finished two years of high school in Harding and graduated from Ottawa Township High School in 1929. He attended Illinois State University, receiving his bachelor’s degree in 1942 and his master’s degree in 1948. He taught in one-room country schools in LaSalle County for six years, in Waterman Grade School for seven years and in Lexington Community High School for 29 years. He retired in 1976.
He served in the U.S. Navy from August 1943 until December of 1945.
