Obituary: Howard U. Faus, 93, of Williamsport, formerly of Hughesville, died Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2017, at Leighton Place of Williamsport, with his daughter by his side. Howard was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel (Green) Faus, in August of 2006.
Born Nov. 27, 1923, in Dewart, he is the son of the late Otis and Minnie (Hilner) Faus.
Howard was a U.S. Navy veteran serving in World War II, from 1942 to 1946. After leaving the service, he began his career at International Furniture of Montoursvlle.
Howard then owned Faus Furniture and Upholstery and retired from Faus Carpeting, Hughesville. He was a member of the Hughesville Baptist Church and the Muncy Lodge No. 299 F.&A.M. He enjoyed bowling, fishing and old westerns. Howard enjoyed woodworking and was a good handyman.
Surviving are a daughter, Carol F. (Harry) Crawshaw, of Hughesville; a granddaughter, Heather (Ross Sheingold) Crawshaw, of Marina Del Rey, Calif.; and a sister, Catherine Lowe, of Williamsport.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Irene Hagenbuch and three brothers, Wilson, Ernest and Elmer Faus.
Funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family at McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home, 557 E. Water St., Hughesville, with Rev. David K. Fishel and Rev. Ronald G. Montgomery officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Hughesville.
