Found on the 1850 census in Sharon Township, Medina County, Ohio near his mother. Birthdate is circa. He frequently appears as being x9 years old on the census. However, when he died in 1890 he was noted at being 80 years old in August. So perhaps his birthday was in August and the censuses were captured before that each year, hence the x9 for his age on them.
