Death information comes from social security records and details of it come from the Baltimore Sun.1 From the article:

On June 15, 1984, retired machinist Ralph Hagenbuch, 77, died from being beaten on the head and arms during a robbery in his home. Stewart was charged with first-degree murder after police found his fingerprints on a metal cash box in Hagenbuch’s home on North Linwood Avenue in Baltimore. A city jury convicted Stewart of robbing Hagenbuch but acquitted him of murder.
