Name found on death certificate of daughter, Louisa, and in son, John’s obituary. Information from Findagrave too. Gravestone says “Hubert Douvia” on it.1

Immigrated to the USA in about 1854 according to the obituary of his daughter, Mary Philomena Carpenter in the Ottawa Free Trader on April 2, 1923.

From Ottawa Free Trader 10/31/1891: At about two o’clock this afternoon, as the funeral of an old gentleman, Mr. Douvia, who died Saturday last at his son’s home on the west side, was proceeding down Ottawa Avenue, a white linen lap robe became entangled in the wheels of one of the carriages and the horse started to run. It ran into Joseph Savage’s horse and buggy and in the tangle Mr. Savage and his grandchild were thrown upon the hard graveled road. Mr. Savage landed upon his back and was quite seriously injured. His daughter who had been in the buggy, jumped when the entanglement occurred and neither she nor the child was injured. The accident nearly stampeded the procession, but it was quickly reorganized.

From probate file of Hamber Douvier and Margaret Douvier: Children are Mary P. Charpentier (Philomena Carpenter), Catherine Moniot, Charles Douvier, Julia Bonnefoy, Joseph L. Douvier, Edward Douvier, all of Ottawa, and John Douvier is a resident of Stormlake, Buena Vista, Iowa, and Louise Hagenbuch and Mary Hameton are residents of the state of Indiana, the P.O. address being Wadena, Burton county.
