Lavergne Mary Hagenbuch, 96 of South Bend passed away Sunday October 24th in the Milton Home. Born May 21, 1914 in Chicago, ILL to the late William and Mae (Fox) Grassby. On September 4, 1937 in South Bend she married Clarence D. Hagenbuch who died in 2001. Left to cherish her memory is her daughter JoAnn Dake (John) of South Bend three grandchildren Carolyn Brooks (Randy), Holly Biggs (Robert) of South Bend and Todd Dake (Debra) of New Carlisle. Eight grandchildren Caleb, Thaddeus and Ian Brooks, David, and Joshua Hunt, Ryan, Amanda and Samantha Dake. Mrs. Hagenbuch received her teaching certificate from Indiana University and taught grade school in the South Bend Community School Corp in Clay Township. She was a 50 year member of First United Methodist Church. She loved to cook and enjoyed cards, knitting and sewing. She was known to everyone as Grandma. She also worked for the former Robertson’s Dept. Store.
