From Kim White on Findagrave: Israel fought in the Civil War with Co. K of the 151st Indiana Infantry. He mustered in on 20 Feb. 1865 and mustered out on 19 Sep. 1865.
Three months later, he and Susan married on 21 Dec. 1865 in Marshall Co., Indiana. I found only two children for them–Elizabeth (b.1867) and Henry (b.1869), but links have been made to two other children by another F.A.G. contributor, so …
I found the family on the 1870 Census, living in West Twp. (today part of Plymouth), Marshall Co., where Israel was working as a “day laborer”. Besides him, Susan and their two children, Matilda Freese (b.1860) and William (b.1864) Freese were living with the family. I believe these two children to be Susannah’s niece and nephew.
By the 1880 Census, the family had moved to nearby Union Twp. (today the Argos/Culver area), Marshall Co., where Israel was making a living as a farmer.
Susan died two years later in the late fall of 1882 at age 35.1
