Hortense E. Hagenbuch Musician, singer, crafter, artist, student of the Bible Hortense E. Hagenbuch, 94, Knob Mountain Road, Berwick, died Monday, March 28, 2005.

Born in Hanover Green, July 2, 1910, she was the daughter of Jarnes H. and Josephine Woodworth Evans. Mrs. Hagenbuch graduated from Bloomsburg Normal School and Bloomsburg State College. She taught special education in the Berwick and Sunbury school districts and later substituted in South Williamsport.

She held offices in several organizations: Berwick Civic Club, Friends of The Berwick Public Library and Susquehanna Arts and Crafts. She was a woman of many talents: musician, singer, composer, crafter of fine arts, pastel artist, a lecturer on the history of spinning and a student of the Bible. Mrs. Hagenbuch attended the Christian Science Society of Bloomsburg, serving as librarian for many years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Evan three sisters: Frances Bonfiglio, Rosemary Arnold and Virginia Hess; a brother, James Evans; her grandson, Evan James Hagenbuch; and most recently, her son, Evan Hagenbuch. Survivors include her daughter, Harriet Hagenbuch, Berwick; her daughter-in-law, Sheila Fitzgerald Hagenbuch, Cave Creek, and her granddaughter, Erin L. Hagenbuch, Virginia Beach, Va: The Kelchner-McMichael Funeral Home, 119-121 E. Third Berwick, is handling all arrangements. Respecting her wishes, there will be no viewing.

Private services will be at the convenience of the family with burial in Benton Cemetery. Donations in her memory may be made to the Berwick Public Library, 210 Chestnut Berwick.
